Individual Therapy
As a trauma-informed Somatic therapist I work with adolescents and adults to help resolve a range of trauma-based presentations including anxiety, depression, addiction, loss of focus/attention, obsessional thinking, emotional volatility, self-hatred, dissociation, grief, and narcissistic wounding - all of which may disrupt one’s relationship with oneself, and loved ones. The experience of feeling safe and at home in one’s own body may have been interrupted from an early age, or due to traumatic experience occurring later in life. I weave a body-centered approach into a variety of psychotherapy modalities including psychodynamics, gestalt, inner child work, and EMDR reprocessing. The natural result of effective therapy
is the client’s increased capacity to listen on deeper
and deeper levels to themselves, thereby nurturing self-trust, love, and life affirming behavior on one’s own behalf.
Family & Couples Therapy
I have comprehensive experience working with adolescents, parents, and couples who struggle with communication, trust, and closeness. I have a passion for connecting with teens to help them articulate their experience, especially the struggles they have in relationship with their parents. With parents, I form a strong working alliance to build communication skills for relating with their teen, help work through their own intergenerational wounding that may be impacting their capacity to connect, and finally work to repair ruptures and misunderstandings to restore communication, trust, and wellbeing. Ultimately, people become receptive to their loved ones when they have a sense that the other is making an effort to put themselves in their shoes, to listen, and empathize with their experience. Underneath relationship discord and youth behavioral challenges is pain and longing to be seen and heard. I work with families and couples to rebuild this bridge.
Breema Bodywork
Breema is a simple and natural bodywork practice that cultivates one’s connection with their breath, weight, touch, feelings, and thoughts. Breema helps people directly experience support and wellbeing within their body and in relation to all of existence. When clinically appropriate, practicing Breema is complimentary to Somatic psychotherapy as it is a practical vehicle for moving in the direction of body-mind connection and settling the nervous system.
